Then set the colony to export food, first at half, then at all once you've filled all the food slots with people.īecause of the way percentages work, and the limited number of colonists, it seems really inefficient to divide colony sectors into anything other than 2 / 2 of any sector type. Two food sectors and either two energy sectors or two research sectors. If no bonus buildings, then just turn the first colony into a food export colony. Heavily depends on the bonuses the bonus buildings (if any) in those sectors have. The starting colony can really go any direction and its hard to pin down exactly what to do with it since you have zero control over its placement. After that, it really depends on what bonuses the adjacent sectors have around you. Almost always having your first sector be a food sector seems to be the way to go since each colonizer takes a population. In your starting colony the production central building seems to be your best bet to help with pumping out colonizers ASAP. So far I've come up with a few starting strategies, but it highly depends on your play style and what goal you have in mind for that game.
